Raw talent may make Miguel Mendoza deserving of his place as Third Star Dreamer of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.  But rumors have been going around claiming that the 19 year old from Muntinlupa got through the competition only because his well-off family spent hard cash for text votes.  During the grand press conference for the PDA Top 6 scholars, ABS-CBN.com quickly asked Miguel to clarify the issue.

“If ever they did, wala naman sigurong masama.  Any family would support (their child) as much as they can.  I don’t think vote buying will be a valid issue,” Miguel justified.  A recently published blind item insinuated that Miguel’s father was willing to spend hard cash for text votes just for him to win.  It was also the exact accusation thrown at Miguel in the previous singing competition he was in.  It seems that contestants from rich families become easy targets of intrigues because they have the money and machinery as advantages.  But Miguel told ABS-CBN.com that he also had loyal supporters who helped in campaigning for him.

“May mga nag-donate din.  ‘Yung iba mga hindi namin kilala.  Dati akala ko gagamitin lang namin ‘yung resources namin.  Himala na aside from family and friends, there were people who we don’t know na sumuporta sa akin.  Even the mayor of Muntinlupa nagpalagay ng mga posters.  Kami hindi na kami naglagay ng posters sa mga bahay namin.  Sa lahat ng sumuporta, sana mabisita ko sila soon,” he said

Miguel could only be thankful that he was given a second shot at stardom.  The singer-musician admitted that since he was young he knew that what he wanted was to sing and perform in front of a big crowd.  He sent his deep gratitude to PDA management and all the viewers and supporters of the show for making him the new star that he is now.
